Open up a Bakewell slow cooker liner and place inside the slow cooker dish. Ensure the liner covers the bottom and sides of the dish and pull the liner over the rim.

In a large pan add oil, pepper, salt and 700 grams of cubed beef stewing meat. Cook the meat on a low heat until it has browned.

Whilst the meat is browning, chop up 2 large carrots, 4 potatoes, 1 large onion and 2 cloves of garlic.

Add your prepared vegetables to the slow cooker along with the browned meat, 250mls of beef stock and 330mls of Guinness draft beer.

Replace the slow cooker lid and cook on high for 3-4 hours or on low for 8-10 hours.

Serve stew directly from slow cooker and accompany it with warm crusty bread.
